In 2019, KRSM partnered with Midtown Phillips Neighborhood Association to teach middle and high school aged youth audio production skills and to produce a series of short recordings that reflected what some of the people who live in, work in, and visit the Phillips Community think of it. This lead to the development of a series of questions to ask community members, and 21 interviews were conducted at Waite House and the Midtown Global Market.

The youth (with a few assists from KRSM staff) selected their favorite recordings, edited and mixed them, sequenced them in an order they chose, and named the collection “Midtown Check-In.”
