ST. PAUL'S ELCA
For 125+ years, St. Paul’s has served the Phillips community of south Minneapolis. Today, St. Paul’s serves in one of the youngest, poorest and most diverse communities in Minneapolis. 7,000 youth live within one mile of our church. We are in the very heart of the Latino community, with substantial populations of Somali and Native Americans, African and European-Americans.
Somali TV MN features the latest multimedia technologies, from live video streaming to audio packages to searchable archives of news features & background. Somali TV Minnesota is independently operated and owned bilingual (Somali and English) Television in Minnesota. Our mission is to enrich lives and strengthen our community through the power of media.
KALY-FM is a low-power, Somali-language radio station located in South Minneapolis. It has a broadcast range of a 10-mile radius with the ability to reach the majority of the 40,000 Somali speakers in the Twin Cities area.
KRSM is a low-power FM radio station based out of the Phillips neighborhood in South Minneapolis. Broadcasting at 98.9 FM, this is a hyper-local platform for amplifying the voices, stories, cultures, and conversations happening in our neighborhoods. Our focus is on communities that are marginalized, misrepresented, and erased by traditional media. For example, our schedule features shows in 6 different languages (English, Spanish, Somali, Ojibwe, Hmong, and Haitian Creole), and we air 10 hours of programming each week by Indigenous hosts. With recording equipment available for loan, over 200 free media skills training classes each year, and a studio outfitted with audio editing software, we are set up to help train the storytellers and community voices of tomorrow. And we have several programs (Student-Powered Radio, Community DJ’s, Southside 60) designed to help bring the diverse voices of our Southside neighbors to the airwaves.
NEW AMERICANS YOUTH SOCCER CLUB
It is the mission of New American Youth Soccer club to enhance community involvement of families new to the United States by providing a safe place to learn and understand the fundamentals of soccer while promoting physical fitness, teamwork, healthy life style choices, discipline, leadership, self-confidence, and better communication skills in youth, 4-16, of all nationalities.
MADDADS OF MINNEAPOLIS
The Minneapolis Chapter of Men Against Destruction – Defending Against Drugs and Social Disorder (MAD DADS) seeks to bring about positive change, and encourages, motivates and guides committed men and women in the struggle to save children, communities and themselves from the social ills that presently plague neighborhoods. MAD DADS employ strategies to engage parents in the intervention and prevention of community problems, and is designed to attract, challenge, and prepare them to be vocal, visible, and vigilant in restoring safe communities and healthy families.
